Dan Zen coined the phrase in 1995 when EGO SCOPE and ADMUSEMENTS were created. Shockwave was on the verge of being launched and promised to bring more interactivity to the Web. This is pre Internet Explorer. Dan Zen attended the Macromedia conference in San Francisco - wearing a guru robe with conference pass hanging from a flower lei.
The premise of I.A. is that people will get more involved in the product if the ads for the product are interactive.
